KATHMANDU: Former boxer Hari Bahadur KC passed away on Thursday due to the coronavirus.

The 48-year-old was undergoing treatment at Megha Hospital after he suffered from the COVID-19 infection on May 23, informed Nepal Boxing Association General Secretary Sabin Bhattacharya.

KC had bagged bronze medal in the seventh South Asian Federation Games in Madras before winning silver in the eighth edition of the regional sporting extravaganza on home soil in 1999.

After retirement, KC was actively involved in the sport as a coach and referee. KC, who hailed from Dang district, is survived by wife, son and daughter.
