KCC, CCRC enter quarters

Kathmandu, March 20:

Hosts KCC and Capital College and Research Centre (CCRC) made it to the quarter-finals of the Wai Wai fifth KCC Running Trophy Nationwide Inter-college Cricket Tournament here at the Birendra Sainik Mahavidhyalaya grounds today.

CCRC recorded a comprehensive 113-run win over British Gurkha College and KCC ‘A’ beat Kathmandu Engineering College (KEC) by seven wickets.

Batting first, CCRC scored 169-6 in 20 overs before restricting British Gurkha for 56-9. Man of the match Rom Shrestha scored an explosive 81 from 51 balls while Pawan Das and Sumit Shrestha chipped in 15 runs each for CCRC. Ajit Bista and Manish Subba claimed two wickets each for British Gurkha.

In reply, Narbu Sherpa top-scored for British Gurkha with 48-ball 13 and Ajit Bista made 11 from 20 balls. Avay Rana and Devendra Yadav took three wickets each and Ankit Timilsina bagged one for CCRC.

In the other match, KEC made 127-7 in 20 overs after electing to bat first but KCC surpassed the total losing three wickets in 17.1 overs.

KEC’s score was built around impressive 33 by Sisir Shrestha and Kishor Kundhan’s 25. Amit Alok and Sumit Sharma pocketed two wickets apiece and Ram Naresh Yadav picked up one for KCC.

Man of the match Rajeev Budhathoki made 27-ball 31 and Pradeep Pant scored a fluent 23 from 21 balls in KCC’s run chase. Subhash Bhandari also chipped in run-a-ball 19. Rajeev Dahal claimed two and Kishor Kundan one wicket for KEC.
