KCTC, Cannon off to winning start

Kathmandu, February 27

Kathmandu Cricket Training Centre (KCTC) and Cannon Cricket Club started the first Ruslan Cup Cricket Tournament with victories here at the Tribhuvan University Stadium today.

Ruslan KCTC defeated Great Himalayan Cricket Academy (GHCA) by 10 wickets. Batting first after winning the toss, GHCA were bowled out for 81 runs in 18.4 overs before KCTC raced to 84 without loss in 16.1 overs.

Prakash Bista top scored for GHCA with 25 runs off 31 balls that included five fours, while Krishna Gajurel made 11 off 15 balls. Robin Chhetri and Dilip Yadav claimed three wickets each for KCTC, while Shyam Tripathi and Prashanna Shakya took a wicket apiece.

In reply, Manish Sahani remained unbeaten on 45 off 55 balls with five fours, while Aschal Chaudhary scored 32 not out off 42 balls that included five fours.

In another match, Cannon Cricket Club defeated G-Force Cricket Academy by eight runs. Batting first, Cannon Cricket Club scored 113-8 in 20 overs and restricted G-Force for 105-5 in 20 overs.

Suman Thakur top scored for Cannon with 30 off 27 balls that included three fours and two sixes, while Pappu Kumar Das remained unbeaten on 27 off 48 balls with four fours. Saroj Poudel finished with 5-18, while Naresh Thapa, Tek Lama and Aditya BK claimed a wicket each for G-Force.

In reply, G-Force made a flying start with openers Obish Shahi and Saroj Poudel putting on 63 runs for the first wicket. With the fall of Shahi for 24 off 46 balls, G-Force kept losing wickets at regular intervals.

Susan Karki top scored for G-Force with 29 off 25 balls, while man-of-the-match Poudel scored 23 off 39 balls with a four and two sixes. Sanjeet Mahato claimed two wickets, while Bhimsen Rokaya and Dipendra Shah took a wicket apiece.
