Khakurel guides TU into final; DAV thru

Tribhuvan University and DAV College advanced to the final of the Golden Gate University Cricket Cup here at the TU Stadium today.
TU defeated Cosmos College by eight runs in super over, while DAV beat Golden Gate by 11 runs in the semi-final matches. The final is slated for Saturday.
The first match was decided in super over after TU and Cosmos were tied in their allotted 20 overs. Cosmos posted 170-6 before TU reached 170-8.
Man-of-the-match Subash Khakurel and Sonu Tamang struck a six each to score 18 runs off Dipesh Shrestha in the super over before Cosmos managed 10 from an over bowled by Ishan Pandey.
Earlier, Cosmos rode on half centuries from Amit Shrestha and Sandeep Jora to post a fighting total. Opener Shrestha hit seven fours and two sixes in his 44-ball 60, while Jora remained unbeaten on 57 off just 30 balls that included four each boundaries and sixes.
Kushal Bhurtel scored nine-ball 15 hitting one each four and six, while Prashanna Shakya struck two boundaries and as many sixes in his 11-ball 25. Sagar Dhakal took 3-30 for TU, while Rupesh Shrivastav claimed 2-19.
In reply, Khakurel top scored for TU with 52-ball 76 hitting eight fours and three sixes and Prithu Baskota struck three boundaries and a six in his 26-ball 30. Bikram Sob (18), Rabin Joshi (17) and Sonu Tamang (10) scored in double figures.
Dipesh Shrestha, Kamal Singh Airee, Kushal Bhurtel, Yogendra Singh Karki and Sandeep Jora claimed one wicket each for Cosmos.
In another match, DAV were bowled out for 120 runs in 20 overs before Golden Gate managed 109-8. Man-of-the-match Aadil Khan top scored for DAV with 27 off 25 balls that included one each four and six, while Sumit Maharjan scored 14-ball 22 hitting three fours.
Shankar Poudel (14), Gaurav Khadka (13), Dilip Yadav (12) and Santosh Poudel (10) also scored in double figures for DAV. Santosh Bhatt was the pick of the Golden Gate bowlers taking 3-18, while Rashid Khan claimed 2-33. Kishor Mahato and Sahab Alam took one wicket each.
In reply, Golden Gate batsmen faltered. Except for opener Naresh Budhayer and Bhupendra Thapa, others failed to score in double figures. Budhayer struck six fours in is 36-ball 37, while Thapa scored run-a-ball 27 hitting three boundaries.
Aadil Khan claimed 3-15 for DAV, while Nandan Yadav, Shankar Poudel and Sumit Jha pocketed one wicket each.
