KATHMANDU: Kathmandu University and Texas International College registered victories in the opening day matches of the second Patriots Cup Inter-college T20 Cricket Tournament here at the Mulpani grounds on Saturday.

KU defeated Kathmandu Model College by six wickets. KMC scored 54-5 in their allotted 10 overs before KU reached 55-4 with four balls to spare. Alen Kumar Mandal and Abhijeet Gupta scored 17 runs each for KMC, while player-of-the match Nischal Neupane scored an unbeaten 19 for KU and Sanant Kharga contributed 13 runs. In another match, Texas beat Brilliant Multiple Campus by eight wickets.

Batting first, BMC posted 144-7 in their allotted 20 overs, while Texas raced to 145- 2 with 20 balls remaining.

After taking 3-19 in the first innings, player-of-the-match Prem Shahi returned to top score for Texas with 41 runs, while Prashant Khawas and Sangit Pant remained unbeaten on 29 and 24 respectively. Subodh Dhungel top-scored for BMC with 42 runs.
