LALITPUR: Host Little Angles School collected 170 points to claim team championship at the third LAS-JTI Inter-school Junior Tennis Tournament here today. British School collected 66 points to finish second.

Geeta Shrestha of LA defeated Sakshi Gurung of Chandbagh School 7-6 in the Under-12 girls’ singles match that went to the tie-breaker. Abhay Gauchan of Rato Bangala outplayed Akash Rokka of LA 9-3 to win the U-12 boys championship held at the LA premises in Hattiban.

Karuna Gauchan of Rato Bangla won the U-10 girls singles final after she sidelined Mayanka Rana of Manjaykar Tennis Academy 9-4. Abhash Malla gave Rato Bangala third gold of the day after defeating Sakshyam Karki 9-4 in the U-10 boys singles final.

Rato Bangala were provided with yet another

title when the pair of Achal Thapa and Anand Gauchan saw off the LA duo Diwas Shrestha and Binod Gautam 6-1, 6-1. Achal also won the of U-14 boys’ singles final defeating Suyash Rajbhandari of British School.

Mina Gharti Magar of Brihaspati Vidhya Sadan registered a 3-6, 7-5, 6-0 victory over Anushka Joshi of British School to win the U-12 girls’ singles category. Mina picked up her second gold medal of the day with a win over the same opponent in U-16 girls’ singles final. Pranjan Kayastha

of Gandaki Boarding School won the U-16 boys’ singles gold. A total of 185 students from 27 schools participated in the five-day tournament.
