Lalitpur, Nuwakot win

Kathmandu, March 30:

Sanjay Shrestha and Manoj Sood scored a half century each as Lalitpur crushed Tribhuvan University (TU) by seven wickets while Nuwakot beat Bhaktapur by 32 runs in the Springwood Senior One-day Regional Selection Cricket Tournament today.

At the TU Stadium, the home team were all out for 155 runs with Sudeep Sharma contributing 54-ball 33 and Kiran Ghimire chipping in with 25 runs. Suraj Basnet took 4-30 while Pradeep Awale bagged 3-27 and Pravin Shakya claimed 2-19 for Lalitpur.

Lalitpur surpassed the total for the loss of three wickets in 20.1 overs as Sanjay and Manoj put on 99 runs for the opening stand. Man of the match Sanjay scored an unbeaten 84 off 47 balls inlcuding seven sixes and five fours while Manoj scored a quick fire 51 off 32 balls with four sixes and five fours. Chandra Bikram KC, Prakash Pathak and Prakash Pant bagged one wicket each for TU.

At Birendra Sainik Awasiya Mahavidhyalaya grounds, Nuwakot were bowled out for 147 in 35.2 overs and restricted Bhaktapur for 115 in 39.3 overs. Keshav Yadav top scored with 35 runs for Nuwakot. Prabin Joshi was the pick of the Bhaktapur bowlers with 3-21 while Rajan Buddhacharya (2-46) and Raju Pulami Magar (2-21) clinched two wickets each.

In reply, Prabin Joshi made 25 and Rajan Buddhacharya scored 19 as Bhaktapur could only manage 115 runs with three balls to spare. Man of the match Pramod Basnet completed a five wicket haul (5-26) for Nuwakot while Rakesh Singh took 3-15.
