KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 19
Nepali legspinner Sandeep Lamichhane remained unsold in the players' auction for this year's Indian Premier League on Thursday.
Lamichhane, who spent three seasons with Delhi Capitals, failed to impress the teams in the first round, while all eight clubs had already secured maximum eight overseas cricketers before Lamichhane's block was presented in the second round held for the unsold players.
Lamichhane had made the breakthrough in the biggest Twenty20 franchise league in 2018 after the then Delhi Daredevils picked him up for the base price of two million Indian currency.
After spending three seasons with the club, Delhi Capitals released Lamichhane this year.
He had set the base price of INR four million for this year's auction but none of the clubs showed interest in Lamichhane, who remained at the bench in his third season with Delhi. He took 13 wickets in nine matches in the first two seasons but he did not get chance to play in the tournament held in the United Arab Emirates last year.
Lamichhane made it to almost all the franchise tournaments held across the globe after Delhi gave him the breakthrough in 2018.
