Laxmi Bank Open Golf on Saturday
Kathmandu, October 24
Laxmi Bank Open Golf Tournament is slated for Saturday here at the Gokarna Golf Club.
Around 100 golfers from various clubs and corporate houses are expected to take part in the tournament to be played under stableford 3/4 handicap format, informed Deepak Acharya, Senior Golf Director at Gokarna Forest Resort, at a press meet today.
The tournament features men, gross, women, senior, guest and junior categories and also offers prizes in longest drive, closest-to-the-pin and most birdies. The Hole-in-One achievement on par-3 Hole No 10 will earn a golfer with Hyundai car worth Rs 2.6 million.
Laxmi Bank CEO, Sudesh Khaling said the tournament was annual event of the company. “We have been organising the tournament since the last three years in our Endeavour to promote sporting activities in the country,” said Khaling. “And we are happy with the outcome as we see more and more people across all gender and age taking interest in golf over the years. Our aim is to take golf to next level and look for other sports,” he added.
Sumed Bhattarai, Chief, Corporate and Infrastructure Banking, hoped that one of the participants would be able to win the Hole-in-one award. “It’s not that we have kept the award thinking that no one would claim the car. We have been offering this prize since the first edition and we want someone to win the award this time around,” he said.
