Lissanevitch claims double title

LALITPUR: Aslesha Lissanevitch claimed the Under-16 and Under-14 championships of the eighth Jaykar

Memorial Junior National Open Tennis Tournament here today.

Held at the Satdobato Tennis Court, Lissanevitch inflicted a humiliating 6-0, 6-0 defeat to Gita Shrestha in the U-14 girls’ singles final. Lissanevitch won Rs 15,000 while Gita earned Rs 7,500. Lissanevitch also recorded an easy 6-2, 6-2 win over Pabitra Gurung in the U-16 girls’ singles final. She bagged an additional Rs 20,000 for her effort while Pabitra got Rs 10,000.

Gita Shrestha, however, clinched the U-12 singles championship with a fighting 8-5 victory over Sachi Gurung. Ivan Hoe Lissanevitch won the U-12 boys’ title with a 8-5 win over Avay Gauchan.

The U-12 winners received Rs 10,000 apiece and the runners up took home Rs 5,000 each.

Niraj Wagle got hold of the U-14 boys’ championship. Wagle defeated Ivan Hoe 6-2, 7-6 in the final. Wagle earned Rs 15,000 and Ivan Hoe got Rs 7,500.

Achal Thapa beat Milan Rokka 6-2, 7-5, 6-1 to win the U-16 boys’ championship. Achal was awarded with Rs 20,000 and Milan was presented with Rs 10,000.

Likewise, Pranav Khanal clinched the Under-9 singles trophy, beating Suraj Tamang 10-8, 10-8 in final. Mayanka Rana claimed the Under10 girls’ singles championship after defeating Ani Mathema 8-5 in final. Sakchham Karki eased past Samrakchhan Bhusan Bajracharya 8-3 in the U-10 boys’ final.
