Kathmandu, February 17:

Suman Gurung scored double hat-trick as Little Angels’ School (LAS) beat Shuvatara School 9-7 in the final of the Daffodil Cup Inter-school Junior Football Tournament here today.

The extra 14 minutes of play broke the deadlock after both the teams were tied 5-5 in the regular 60 minutes of the match. Suman scored three while Bibek Shrestha and Abhishek Lama added one each for LAS in the regular time. Santosh Gurung, Prayas Singh, Sahil Shrestha, Biraj Shrestha and Riwaj Katuwal scored one goal each for Suvatara.

Suman added another three and Abhishek scored his second goal of the match while Sahil and Biraj netted one goal each for Suvatara in the extra time.

Suman Gurung of LAS was adjudged the best player of the tournament while New Summit got the fair play team award. All Nepal Football Association president Ganesh Thapa gave away the prizes. In all, 16 schools took part in the tournament organised by Daffodil School.
