Lifters to depart

KATHMANDU: Nepali weightlifters are set to participate in the World Weightlifting Championship for the first time since 1983. Rakesh Ranjit will take part in the men’s 62kg while Jhanta Katuwal, the first ever woman to take part in any international event, will compete in the 63kg section at the World Weightlifting Championship slated for September 14-26 in Thailand. The players will be accompanied by manager Sanjay Maharjan and team leader Binod Mainali. — HNS

‘C’ Division

KATHMANDU: Chakrapath Youth Club and Chandeswori Youth Club were relegated from ‘C’ Division League Football after Thursday’s matches. Chakrapath were relegated on a weaker goal difference to Sachham Nagar Tole Sudhar Samuha who drew 1-1 against Samajik Youth Club. Chyasal Youth Club and Garuda Sports Club advanced to the Super Sixes from the Group ‘A’. Garuda beat Chyasal 2-1. Chandeswori were relegated following a 1-3 loss to Satdobato Youth Club. — HNS

Archery

KATHMANDU: Nepal Archery Association, in coordination with Kaski District Archery Association, is organising the second National Archery Tournament from September 28-30 in Pokhara. Around 50 players from 14 teams will take part in the event. Top three teams will get Rs 15,000, Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 while the top three individual winners will receive Rs 9,000, Rs 6,000 and Rs 3,000 respectively.— HNS
