GAA thrash Oasis
KATHMANDU: Godavari Alumni Association (GAA) outscored Oasis 55-25 in the Group B match of the third Fr Watrin Women’s Open Basketball Tournament here on Wednesday. Katie Kcline top scored for GAA with 17 points while Maya Syangden contributed 16 for Oasis. — HNS
ANFA postpones matches
KATHMANDU: All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has postponed the Western Union Martyrs Memorial ‘C’ Division League Football matches here on Wednesday. The Wednesday’s scheduled matches between Cannon Club and Naxal, and that between Shree Kumari and Kumari Youth Club was put off for Thursday due to slippery ground caused by the heavy downpour, said ANFA in a release. — HNS
North Point in semi-finals
KATHMANDU: North Point, Golden Peak and Mt Glory advanced to the boy’s section semi-finals in the first Forward Inter-school Basketball Tournament on Wednesday. Pradeep Adhikari netted 19 points as North Point edged out Gillette International School 45-29 while Golden Peak sneaked past VS Niketan 36-33 with Shanker Lama contributing a match-winning 19 points. In the last match, Alin KC netted 16 points to hand Mt Glory a 38-26 win over Valley Public. Greenland have already made it to the semi-finals on Tuesday. Mt Glory will take on Golden Peak and North Point will meet Greenland in the boy’s semi-finals while Greenland will face Mahendra Bhawan and Gillette will take on Valley Public in girl’s semi-finals on Thursday. — HNS
Inter-school road race
KATHMANDU: To mark the National Education Day and International Literacy Day, the National Sports Council (NSC) is organising the first Valleywide Inter-school Road Race on Thursday. School boys will take part in a five kilometre race while girls will participate in a three kilometre race, said the NSC. Both the races will begin from Dasharath Stadium. The top three winners in both the sections will be awarded with a purse of Rs 5,000, Rs 3,000 and Rs 2,000 respectively. — HNS
