Festival of Football
KATHMANDU: The Nepali youth team had a mixed result at the AFC Under-13 Festival of Football held in Dhaka on Saturday. Samip Shrestha scored in Nepali team’s 1-1 draw against Kyrgyzstan in the first match while they defeated Ujbekistan 2-0 on goals from Bikash Kunwar and Sulabh Maskey. Nepal lost 1-0 against India in the last game. — HNS
Cricket selection
KATHMANDU: Baluwatar Cricket Club beat Lainchour Cricket Club by 152-run in the Kathmandu District Cricket Selection Tournament. Baluwatar scored 259 in 40 overs. Lainchour was all out for 107 runs in 38 overs. Sarad Vesawkar scored 68 and Sunam Gautam hit unbeaten 56 for Baluwatar. Avay Rana also chipped in 36 for the winners. Raju Thapa claimed three wickets for Lainchour. In reply, Bijay Gautam top scored with 13 for Launchour. Raj Shrestha took three and Avay Rana bagged two wickets for Baluwatar — HNS
RNGC team win
KATHMANDU: Royal Nepal Golf Club (RNGC) defeated Ex-Brigade of Gurkhas Golf Society (EBGGS) in a friendly golf at the RNGC on Saturday. Played under the match-play format, 15 teams took part from each sides. ACC coaching course
KATHMANDU: The ACC Coach Accreditation Course (Level-I) will begin from Sunday in Kathmandu. Two members of 16 nations and four from Nepal will participate in the course. Raju Khadka, Raju Basnet, Dipendra Chaudhary and Jamil Ahamed Ansari will represent Nepal. ACC Development Officers Rumesh Ratnayke, Iqbal Sikandar and Roger Binni along with ACC Consultant Dr Vesh Paes and Cricket Australia’s Ross Turner will conduct the course, Cricket Association of Nepal said today. — HNS
Women cricket
BHAIRAHAWA: Rupandehi defeated Nawalparasi by 131 runs in the Women’s Cricket Tournament on Saturday. Rupandehi scored 159-1 in their allotted 25 overs before bowling out Rupandehi for mere 28 runs in 8-4 overs. Manu Khawas scored unbeaten 44 and Shanti Basyal made 32 not out runs for Rupendehi. Saraswoti Lama of Rupandehi completed a five-wicket haul to complete the rout. — HNS
