JYC, RCT, Three Star register wins

LALITPUR: Samsung Jawalakhel Youth Club (JYC), Nabil Three Star Club and Sony RCT won their matches in the third Nepal Bank ‘A’ Division Junior (U-14) League. JYC blanked Carlsberg Manang Marsyangdi Club 4-0 on goals from Sanjog Rai, Saroj Lama, Bikram Lama and Manoj Ghale (own goal). Makar Dhwoj Gurung scored four while Sushil Prajapati and Deepak Gurung added one each as RCT thrashed Machhindra Energizer Club 6-0. Likewise, Three Star beat Tribhuvan Army Club 2-1. Bal Krishna Magar scored for the Army while Nirajan Maharjan netted a goa for Three Star and Krishna Bikram Thapa’s own goal handed Three Star the win. — HNS

Badminton team off to Malaysia

KATHMANDU: An eight-member badminton team on Sunday left for Malaysia to take part in the Asian Badminton Championship slated for April 10-20. Six players — Balram Thapa, Pashupati Paneru, Pankaj Chand, Bikash Shrestha, Sumina Shrestha and Sara Devi Tamang — were accompanied by coach Prakash Uday and manager Ramji Bahadur Shrestha, general secretary of Nepal Badminton Association. They will take part in five events — men and women’s singles and doubles and mixed doubles. Member secretary of National Sports Council Jeevan Ram Shrestha bade farewell to the team. — HNS
