ACC Trophy
KATHMANDU: Nepal will take on Hong Kong in its third Group ‘C’ match in the sixth ACC Trophy at Kilat Club in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday. Nepal has never defeated Hong Kong in any form of cricket so far. Nepal registered easy wins in its previous two matches against Kuwait and Bhutan. Nepal registered a six-wicket win over Kuwait and went on to hammer 281-run victory over Bhutan in the next match. Only formality will remain to advance to the quarter-finals, if Nepal win the game on Saturday. — HNS
NAA bid farewell
KATHMANDU: Nepal Athletics Association (NAA) on Friday organised a farewell programme to its team participating in the 10th South Asian Games in Colombo. On the occasion, the NAA handed over tracksuits and T-shirts to players, coaches and officials. Nepal-German Athletics Development Project and managing director of Adidas Company (Nepal) Sanjeev Tuladhar jointly sponsored adidas shoes to seven athletes. The team is scheduled to leave for Colombo on Monday. — HNS
Girls’ basketball
KATHMANDU: Milan Vidya Mandir is organising the fourth Valley-wide Inter-school Girls’ Basketball Tournament from Monday. A total of 16 teams will vie for the championship. The participating teams are Gyanodaya Bal Batika, Grammer Public, Rato Bangla ‘A’, Suryodaya, Milan Vidya Mandir, Reliance International Academy, Gyan Niketan, Young Hearts, Teresa Academy, Rato Bangla ‘B’, Prithvi School, New Summit, Trungram International Academy, Pacific Academy, Valley Public and Triyog International School. — HNS
Monsoon Meet
KATHMANDU: Alpha and Gyanodaya Bal Batika entered the final from the girls’ section at the Monsoon Meet Inter-school Basketball Tournament today. Alpha beat Rato Bangla (green) 45-12 as Gyanodaya defeated Gyan Niketan 65-23 in the semi-finals. Sunday’s finals are scheduled between RIBS and Gyan Niketan in senior boys’, Alpha and Gyanodaya in girls’ section, and host Shridiwa and Intensive in the junior boys’ category. — HNS
Sportswear given
KATHMANDU: Bijay Shahi, proprietor of sports wear manufacturing company Attsh, presented T-shirts to taekwondo team participating in the 10th South Asian Games today. Likewise, former athlete Gajaraj Joshi also handed over T-shirts to the team on behalf of Om New Korean Shop today. — HNS
