Nuwakot win

KATHMANDU: Nuwakot defeated Bhaktapur by 88 runs in the Wai Wai Under-19 Regional Selection Cricket Tournament on Thursday. Batting fist, Nuwakot were bowled out for 146 runs in 37.2 overs and packed Bhaktapur for just 58 runs in 22.2 overs. Man of the match Keshav Yadav hit nine fours in his 89-ball 79 and returned to take two wickets for Nuwakot. Royal Niraula took 3-23 for Bhaktapur. In reply, Rabin Joshi (15) and Tison Silpakar (14) scored in two digits for Bhaktapur. Ritesh Singh took 3-10 for Nuwakot. — HNS

Giri triumphs

KATHMANDU: Sumandra Giri won the Eu Hazur Thapa Caddies Tournament here at the Gokarna Golf Club. Giri carded 11-over par 83 and earned the top prize of Rs 10,000 and a golf set. Bikash Bogati (86) came second, while Bishnu Bhandari (87) finished third. Bogati and Bhandari received Rs 6,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively. A total of 26 caddies had qualified for the tournament. Amit Bogati (88) came fourth, while Deependra Rayamajhi and Raju Thapa (89) were tied at fifth. — HNS

Wilson in quarters

KATHMANDU: Wilson Academy, hosts Daffodil ‘A’, Unique and NIMS advanced to the boys’ semi-finals of the Daffodil Cup Basketball Tournament on Thursday. Wilson beat Sambotta 67-64, Daffodil beat Galaxy 53-16, Unique dispatched Gyan Niketan and NIMS defeated Pennwood Academy 54-37. — HNS

KATHMANDU: Xavier International ‘B’ hammered Global College 8-0 and Pinnacle saw off K&K College 5-3 in tiebreaker of the first Hilbert Cup Inter-college Knockout Football Tournament on Thursday. In other matches, St Lawrence crushed Shree Sitaram 7-0 and Ratna Rajya overcame Richmond 4-0. — HNS
