Ilam beat Sunsari

LALITPUR: Ilam defeated Sunsari 1-0 in the final of the U-14 DDC Chairman Cup at ANFA Complex. Anup Lamsal scored the decider in the sixth minute of the added time after a 0-0 draw to help his team defend the title. Ilam had defeated Jhapa in the final last year. ANFA president Ganesh Thapa gave away awards to the winners of the 35-team event.— HNS

Syuchatar win

KATHMANDU: Syuchatar won the best team award with three gold, three silver and five bronze medals at the first Bagmati Zonal Taekwondo Championship on Tuesday. Kathmadu finished second with three gold, two silver and three bronze medals while Bal Aawaj came third with three gold and a bronze medal. Rejina Karki of Kathmandu Dojang and Rakesh KC of Koteswor Dojang were declared the best female and male fighters of the tournament. Likewise, Dhading won the disciplined team award while Min Basnet and Sunil Shahi won the best coach and best referee award respectively. — HNS

LRI, Ed-Mark win

KATHMANDU: Learning Realm International (LRI) and Ed-Mark advanced to the final of the KVC Inter-college Friendly Basketball Tournament. In closely contested semi-finals, LRI defeated hosts Kathmandu Valley College ‘Yellow’ 30-27 with Prayash Maharjan scoring match-winning 16 points, while Edmark beat Bernhardt 58-55 with Prem Thapa top-scoring with 24 points for the winners. — HNS

National flag Race

KATHMANDU: Mina Poudel of Shivapuri Higher Secondary School won the fourth Inter-school girls’ National Flag Race on Tuesday. Bijay Rimal and Renu Magar of Prithivi Boarding School finished second and third respectively. n all, 570 students from 33 schools took part in the event, which was organised by Lajimpat Club to mark the 56th birthday of Queen Komal. The race started from the south gate of the Royal Palace and ended at Basantapur. — HNS
