White House win

KATHMANDU: Gyanodaya Bal Batika and Himalayan White House International College (HWHIC) won their matches in the Inter-college Boys’ Basketball Tournament. Gyanodaya beat hosts Rato Bangala 37-36 with Bikash Sherchan scoring 17 points for the winners. Nima Norbu and Dorje Wangyal netted 13 each as HWHIC beat Kathmandu Valley 62-37. — HNS

CCRC enter semis

KATHMANDU: Capital College and Research Centre (CCRC) entered the semi-finals defeating Public Youth Campus by 96 runs in the fourth Vice-chancellor Running Shield Cricket Tournament here at TU Stadium. Electing to bat, CCRC scored a massive 265/7 in 36 overs. In reply, Public Youth managed just 166 runs in 29.4 overs. Man of the match Mehaboob Alam scored 83 off 44 balls including 13 fours and three sixes. Bikash Dali scored run-a-ball 41 and Sunam Gautam contributed 26 runs for CCRC. Prakash Thapa and Manoj Saud took two wickets each for PYC. Birendra Shah (54) and Suraj Adhikari (50) scored half century each but could not help avert PYC’s defeat. Dhirendra Chand took four wickets and Suraj Timilsina claimed two each for CCRC. — HNS

Seven-a-side soccer

KATHMANDU : Jawalakhel Youth Club is organising the Seven-a-side Football Tournament on February 4 and 11. Around 16 teams are expected to participate in the league-cum-knock tournament, said the organisers in a release on Tuesday. “The objective of the tournament, apart from popularising the sport, is to develop brotherhood among the clubs and associations,” JYC president Sunil Shrestha said. — HNS

Winter trophy

LALITPUR: Rakesh Singh’s fiery eight-wicket haul saw Baluwatar Cricket Club register an emphatic 126 runs win over Baneshwor Everest Club in the Shyam Chaitanya Baba Memorial sixth Winter Trophy Cricket Tournament. Batting first, BCC ammassed 243 runs losing nine wickets. Dipen Shrestha scored 87 and Pramod Basnet 43 runs for the winning team. In reply, Baneshwor was packed for 117 runs. — HNS
