KATHMANDU, APRIL 29

The Meteorological Forecasting Division has predicted widespread rainfall, thunderstorms and gusty winds across the country on Wednesday, with heavy downpours likely in some areas.

According to the forecast, Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces will remain mostly cloudy, along with the hilly and Himalayan regions of Karnali and Sudurpashchim. Light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder, lightning and hail is expected at many places, while heavy rainfall is likely at one or two locations, particularly in the hilly regions of Koshi and Gandaki.

Gusty winds are also likely in several Terai districts.

Tonight, similar conditions are expected to persist, with moderate rainfall and thunderstorms forecast at many places in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati and Gandaki, and scattered rainfall elsewhere. Heavy rain is also likely at isolated locations in the hilly regions of these provinces.

The country is currently under the influence of a western disturbance, local winds and a low-pressure system over the eastern region.

Authorities have urged the public to take necessary precautions as a weather system bringing thunderstorms, lightning, hail and strong winds moves from west to east across the country.
