AFC VP in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU:

Manilal Fernando, vice president of Asian Football Confederation, has arrived Kathmandu to receive the Gorkha Dakshin Bahu award to be conferred by King Gyanendra on Friday. AFC president Mohammad Bin Hammam, who was among the nine personalities to be named for various awards from football, is arriving on Friday. Others from the sport to be honoured were All Nepal Football Association president Ganesh Thapa, general secretary Narendra Shrestha, vice president Kishor Rai, treasurer Birat Jung Shahi, Three Star coach Dhruba KC and footballers Upendra Man Singh and Bal Gopal Maharjan. — HNS

Tennis clinic concludes

LALITPUR:

All Nepal Lawn Tennis Association (ANLTA) organised a two-day tennis clinic at Satdobato Tennis Complex on Wednesday and Thursday. Doug King, founder and director at Acceleration Tennis, conducted the training to 50 coaches, instructors, markers, and senior and junior players. The Head Pro at Moraga Country Club, California, USA, Doug King is also a senior writer at TennisOne. — HNS
