Kamal Thapa won the first set 6-0 and was leading the second 2-0 when the football coach left the match. In other pre-quarters, Manoj Rana beat Ramji Thapa 6-0, 6-4; Karma Gurung beat Bidur Bista 6-1, 6-4; Prithvi Thakali beat LP Gurung 6-0, 6-0; Subarna Dhakwa beat Ishwor Rai 6-0, 6-3; Gyanendra Tamrakar beat Bikash Rana 6-1, 6-4. Deepak Shrestha and Chyamba Dhondup also advanced after earning walkovers. Sarkar to depart
KATHMANDU: Senior cricket umpire Satyajeet Sarkar is going to Malaysia on Wednesday to take part at the Umpires’ Meeting on August 4, and also officiate the ACC U-17 Asia Cup matches, slated for August 4-13. He will officiate two matches — UAE vs Mal-aysia on August 5 and UAE vs Thailand on August 6.
