Shahi wins gold

LALITPUR: Sitaram Shahi completed the boys’ Open 50m backstroke in 33.56 seconds to win the gold in the Birthday Cup Inter-school Swimming Championship organised by Nepal Swimming Association. Shaila Rana (38.56) won in girls’ section. Other winners were: Shailesh Rana/Karishma Karki (15-17yrs 50m freestyle); Min K Lama /Oshin Bharati (13-14yrs 50m freestyle); Shailesh/Karishma (15-17yrs 50m butterfly); Chandrashing/Shaila (50m butterfly); Tek B Tamang/Oshin (13-14yrs 50m butterfly); Alice Shrestha/Bibidha (50m breaststroke); Kishore/ Surangana Bomdzom (U-12 50m freestyle).

Gyan Bhairab triumph

KATHMANDU: Ramesh Man Singh Basnet scored a hat-trick as Gyan Bhairab Club defeated Yellow Star Club 4-1 in the ‘C’ Division League. In other matches, Samajik Club beat Cannon 3-1; King Come blanked Deepshikha 5-0; and Naxal thrashed Sanepa Club 6-1.

Gurung, Thapa win

KATHMANDU: Mukhiya Gurung, Niraj Thapa, Keshar Malla, Ganga Ram Shrestha, Mukesh Newa and Satin Shrestha made it to the quarter-finals of the Cosmos Open Snooker Tournament, which has been organised by Cosmos Solarium today. Also, Pradeep Shrestha and Bikash Shrestha earned walkovers to enter the quarters.
