KATHMANDU: Gyan Niketan and Arunodaya entered the Junior Boys’ section final of the second Golden Peak Inter-school Basketball Tournament on Monday. Gyan Niketan defeated hosts Golden Peak 30-26 and Arunodaya dispatched Deep Jyoti 67-60. Entering in the girls’ semi-finals were Valley Public and TIA. Valley Public beat Deep Jyoti 24-11 and TIA overcame Arunodaya 29-15. — HNS

Niraj defeats Abhijeet

LALITPUR: Niraj Wangden defeated Abhijeet Prashai 6-1, 6-2 and Pranjal Kayastha overcame Sandesh Singh Rathaur 6-2, 6-3 on the opening day U-16 Boys’ matches here at the seventh Jayakar Memorial Junior National Open Tennis Tournament on Monday. In other U-16 Boys’ section matches, Ayush Karki and Dominique got walkover wins. Winners in the U-16 girls’ section included Davu Sherpa, Mina Gharti Magar, Anushka Joshi, Shrija Karki, Bibhuti Baral and Prakriti Shrestha. Also, Sandesh Rathaur, Binod Gauchan, Prajwol Kayastha, Ananda Gauchan, Abhishek Bastola and Dibhya Chalise won their U-14 boys’ matches. — HNS

SNB Memorial Cricket

KATHMANDU: Deep Jyoti defeated Little Angel’s by five wickets and Budhanilkantha beat English Preparatory School (EPS) by eight wickets in the second SNB Memorial Inter-school Cricket Tournament on Monday. Shamim Akhtar scored 52 runs as Little Angel’ scored 116-5 but Deep Jyoti overcame the total for the loss of five wickets in 19.1 overs. In another match, EPS were dismissed for 53 runs in 14.4 overs and Budhanilkantha surpassed the total losing two wickets in 5.3 overs. — HNS

LALITPUR: Little Angel’s School advanced to the semi-finals of the 13th Fr Moran Memorial Inter-school Football Tournament with a 3-1 win over Dolphin on Monday. Likewise, NAPF also made it through with a 5-0 drubbing of Crescent. — HNS

Brihaspati, United win

KATHMANDU: Brihaspati Vidhyasadan, United Academy, National Campus and Trinity College recorded wins in the second CPS Cup Inter-college Boys Basketball Tournament on Monday. Brihaspati edged past Bern Hardt 50-41, United saw off Bright Vision 38-19, National Campus beat Campion 55-47 and Trinity sneaked past Reliance International College 63-62. — HNS

Classic beat National

KATHMANDU: Classic College beat National Campus by three wickets in the second Aaditya Memorial Inter-college Twenty20 Cricket Tournament on Monday. National Campus were all out for 122 in 19.4 overs but Classic surpassed the total in 19.3 overs for the loss of seven

wickets. In another match, Budhanilkantha ‘B’ registered a comprehensive 111 runs win over British School. Budhanilkantha made 179-8 and restricted British School for 68 runs in 15.5 overs. — HNS
