Police team win

KATHMANDU: Nepal Police Club (NPC) won both their matches in the Blue Sky Cup Women’s Volleyball League here on Wednesday. The Police team beat hosts Chhantyal Sports Team 25-19, 25-13, 25-27 before outplaying PLA’ Second Division 25-11, 25-7, 25-16. The Second Division, however, earned three points after Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) failed to report in the next game. Bright Future maintained their lead atop the standing with yet another 25-13, 25-14, 25-9 victory over the hosts Chhantyal Sports Team. Bright Future lead the standing with maximum 18 points from six games. NPC are next with 15 points, Chhantyal 12 and TAC eight. — HNS

Bhagwati leads

KATHMANDU: Bhagwati Prasad Sharma, Deepak Maharjan and Bikash Kukuj share the lead with three points after the third round of the Selection Chess Tournament. Prakash Nepal, Bhawani Limbu, Ratna Byanjankar, Niranjan Prajapati and Harish Chandra Chaulagai are next with two points each. Suwarna Ram Joshi, Avinaya Subedi and Sandesh Man Pradhan are third with one point each. The winners will represent Nepal in the International Chess Tournament to be held in Mumbai from April 20. — HNS
