Keshari, Sherchan feted
KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Don Bosco HS School felicitated its students Shashi Keshari and Deepen Sherchan for their brilliant performance at the U-15 Asia Cup held from April 11-22 in the UAE. Skipper Keshari and Sherchan were rewarded with one-year scholarship each. Principal Dr Tara Nath Sharma handed over gift hampers to the players. — HNS

LALITPUR: Simon Gurung scored a hat-trick as Gyanodaya Bal Batika School (GBBS) thrashed Gyan Kunj School 7-1 and Shuvatara School beat St Xavier’s School 2-0 and advanced to the last four of the Campion Inter-school Football Tournament. Madhav Chaulagain netted two goals while Sandeep Lama and Wilson Sherchan scored a goal each for GBBS. In the other match, Sagar Gurung and Pratik Shrestha scored in Shuvatara’s win over St Xavier’s School. — HNS

KATHMANDU: Sonullah Ansari scored two goals as Birgunj Youth Academy beat Best Club 6-2 in the ‘C’ Division League Selection Tournament. For Birgunj, Krishna Sha-kya, Subhash Rayamajhi, Niranjan Patel and Umesh Chaudhari also scored. In other matches, Chandeshwori Club beat Bishal Milan Kendra 9-8 on penalties; Umesh Jung Thapa’s hat-trick helped Naxal Bhagwati beat Godam Chaur Laligurans 5-0; Balpremi Khel Mandal beat Kumari Club 2-0. — HNS
Shrestha finishes first
LALITPUR: Sandip Shrestha of GEMS beat Pawan Rana of Precious School in the boys’ 30-kg section final at the Indo-Nepal Inter-school Judo Championship. Other winners were: Anup Shrestha (35kg); Jibesh Shrestha (40kg); Bijay Lama (45kg); Saroj Maharjan (50kg); India’s Nikhil Baishya (55kg); Rabin Deula (60kg). Ameesh Nandan of India won the open weight category. In girls’ section, Nepal’s Navina Lama (45kg); and India’s Poonam Patel (52kg) and Manisha Sharma (open) finished first. — HNS

KATHMANDU: Galaxy Public School beat Nazir 54-43 in the inaugural match of the Inter-school Basketball Tournament, which has been jointly organised by BINS and National College of Computer Studies (NCCS). In other matches, Whitefield Academy beat Universal School 46-35 and Budhanilkantha School beat Epsain School 26-23. — HNS
