Bishwo Niketan win

LALITPUR: Ravi Silwal completed a hat-trick as Bishwo Niketan Higher Secondary School hammered ACME Engineering College 7-1 in the Akhil Cup Inter-college Football Tournament here on Thursday. Silwal opened the scoring early in the eighth minute and added his second in the 27th minute before completing a hat-trick in the 60th minute. In between Jitendra Karki (12, 49) and Saurav Shrestha (25, 51) scored a brace each for Bishwo Niketan. In other matches of the day, Bajra International College saw off Kamana International College 4-1 and Nepal Commerce College defeated CITE 2-0. Nigma scored a hat-trick and Anil Lama added the other in Bajra’s win over Kamana. Nigma struck twice in four minutes — 17th and 21st — before completing his hat-trick in the 70th, a minute after teammate Anil Lama had scored the team’s third goal. Sabaj replied for Kamana in the 54th minute. Earlier in the first match, Niresh Dulal put Nepal Commerce ahead in the eighth minute and Yuddhi Gurung ensured their victory with the second goal in the 65th minute.

Green Lawn triumph

KATHMANDU: Defending champions NPC and Green Lawn registered wins in the fourth Fr Moran Memorial Invitational Inter-school Football Tournament on Thursday. Robin Parajuli struck a hat-trick

as NPC humiliated DAV 8-0. Sushant Karki also added a brace while Prajwol Bista and Raman Mahat scored one goal apiece. The other goal came through an own goal. In another match, Green Lawn edged past Chelsea 2-1. Sishir Gautam converted both the goals for Green Lawn. Auras Sapkota replied for Chelsea. Also, Little Angels’ and Machhapuchhre as well as St Xavier’s (Jawalakhel) and Kathmandu University School, both played a 1-1 draw.

16th Gyan Carnival

LALITPUR: Hosts Gyanodaya Bal Batika and Wilson Academy won the basketball trophies held under the 16th Eicher Gyan Carnival here on Thursday. Gyanodaya beat Prithvi School 29-17 to clinch the girls’ title while Wilson saw off GEMS 50-47 to claim the boys’ championship. KATHMANDU: Hosts Niten Memorial School, Kantipur and Daffodil made it to the girls’ section semi-final of the first Niten Memorial Inter-school Basketball Tournament on Thursday. NIMS hammered Reliance Academy 24-3, Kantipur beat Galaxy Public 22-11 and Daffodil overcame Excelsior 23-3. NIMS will play Teresa and Kantipur will take on Daffodil in semi-finals. Likewise, Unique saw off Siddhartha Vanasthali 45-30 and Daffodil eased past Excelsior 27-5 to reach the boys’ section quarter-finals.

LA karate tourney

LALITPUR: The first LA Inter-school Official Karate Tournament begins here at the School premises in Hattiban on Friday. In all, 180 karatekas from 18 schools will

compete for 10 gold medals in boys and eight in girls’ section. Nine championships will be decided on the first day of the tournament organised by Little Angels School. Remaining nine gold medals will be decided on Saturday.

Sarai enter semis

PALPA: Sarai Youth Club defeated Junior Young Boys 1-0 and entered the semi-finals of the Districtwide Brusan Memorial Cup football tournament organised by Sri Nagar Football Club of Palpa here on Thursday. After a goalless first half, Yam Rana scored the solitary goal in the 26th minute of the second half. On Friday, Sixteen Brothers will take on Sirjanshil Youth Club in the first semi-final match.
