Lumbini Khukuri win Twenty20 cricket title

Lumbini Khukuri Cricket Club won the title of the Shashikant-Sakuntala Barma Twenty20 Cricket Tournament here today.
Lumbini defeated Western Cricket Club of Butwal by seven runs in day’s final. Lumbini bagged Rs 50,000, while runners-up Western got Rs 25,000.
Opting to bat first, Lumbini were bowled out for 133 runs with a ball to spare and restricted Western to 126-8. Player-of-the-match Rohit Paudel scored 65 and Sabin Shakya added 26 for Lumbini. Bikram Bhusal claimed five wickets, while Saurav Khanal and Dhiraj Shahi took two wickets each for Western.
In reply, Western fell eight runs short from the victory target. Rahul Kumar scored with 35 runs and Bhuwan Pandey added 18 runs. Lumbini’s Shah Alam and Lal Bahadur Adhikari grabbed three wickets each.
Devdaha Cricket Unit’s Suraj Darai was named the best player of the tournament and received Rs 10,000. Saurav Khanal of Western and Shah Alam of Lumbini were adjudged the best batsman and bowler respectively. They earned Rs 5,000 each. A total of 12 teams of Rupandehi district took part in the event.
