KATHMANDU: Machhindra Football Club crashed out of the AFC Cup following their 3-1 defeat against India's Mohun Bagan at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata on Wednesday.
Anwar Ali scored a brace and Jason Cummings netted one for Mohun Bagan, while Messouke Oloumou scored the consolation goal for Machhindra in the second match of the playoff.
Machhindra had defeated Bhutan's Paro FC 3-2 in the first match of the playoff at the Dasharath Stadium in Kathmandu on August 8.
Machhindra got the chance to participate in the AFC Cup playoff despite finishing second in the Martyrs Memorial League after champions Church Boys United were not eligible in the absence of the AFC Club License.
Mohun Bagan will take on Abahani Limited of Bangladesh in the playoff final for a place in the group round.
