KATHMANDU: Times International Club, Xavier International College, Golden Gate International College and Budhanilkantha Basketball Club recorded victories in the opening day matches of the Madan Bhandari Cup here at the Kirtipur covered hall on Monday.
Times defeated Dream Team 67-45 riding on 20 points from Suraj Khadgi, while Xavier edged past Bajra College 68-63 in which Bikram Khadka top scored with 20 points for the winning team.
Likewise, Abhishek Singh netted 20 points as Golden Gate beat Royal 72-69, while Budhanilkantha outplayed Nakhipot Youth Club 70-52 riding on 14 points from Khem Waiba.
Top two teams of the tournament - in both men's and women's sections - organised by the Madan Bhandari Sports Academy will receive Rs 100,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively.
