KATHMANDU: Madhesh Province won the title of the Baliyo Nepal U-15 Cricket Tournament here at the Mulpani grounds on Sunday. In the final match, Madhesh defeated Bagmati Province by four wickets.
Batting first, Bagmati posted 95-9 in their allotted 20 overs before Madhesh reached the target in 15.3 overs for the loss of six wickets. Akash Tamatta top scored for Bagmati with 23 runs, while other batters failed to leave their mark.
Saiman Roy took 2-10 for Madhesh. In reply, player-of-the-match Ranjan Yadav contributed 34 runs for Madhesh. Bagmati skipper Yuvaraj Khatri took 3-16. Baliyo-XI duo Jenish Magar and Kamal Shahi along with Bagmati's Yuvaraj Khatri were named the emerging players.
Member of Parliament Aman Lal Modi, Baliyo Nepal Nutrition Initiative's Chief Executive Dr Atul Upadhyaya, and former national team skippers Paras Khadka and Gyanendra Malla handed over prizes to the winners.
