Mahavir Club win Winter Trophy

Mahavir Cricket Club beat Baluwatar Cricket Club by 71 runs to win the Shyam Chai-tyanya Baba Memorial Winter Trophy Cricket Tournament. Battingf first, Mahavir posted 183 runs losing nine wickets in 40 overs, riding on Dipendra Chaudhary’s half century.

Skipper Paresh Lohani scored 27 off 32 balls including five fours, while Mehboob Alam hit four boundaries in his 43-ball 37. Dipendra Chaudhary remained unbeaten on 51 off 75 balls which included four hits to the fence. Pramod Roy scored 23 runs, while Raju Khadka hit the only six of the match in his 41-ball 22. For Baluwatar, Sharad Vesawkar, Abhay Rana, and Basanta Regmi took two wickets each. In reply, Baluwatar were packed off for 112 runs in 30.2 overs. Paras Khadka top-scored with 46 off 74 balls and Basanta Regmi scored 26 runs.

For Mahavir, man of the match Mehboob Alam returned with the figures of 6-1-20-3, while Binod Das claimed three wickets conceding 33 runs in eight overs. Sharad Vesawkar was declared the best batsman while Sudeep Sharma was named the best bowler. Shakti Gauchan won the man of the series award.
