Mahendranagar United defeat Biratnagar Kings, CYC Attariya thrash Ruapndehi Challengers
KATHMANDU: Mahendranagar United have registered a 33-run victory over national team captain Paras Khadka led-side Biratnagar Kings in the second match of the day in Dhangadhi Premier League Twenty20 Cricket Tournament, on Sunday.
At SSP grounds of Dhangadhi, United won the toss and chose to bat before making a total of 168-5 in their allotted 20 overs. In reply, Kings managed to reach 135 runs only losing all the wickets in 19 overs.
United made a positive start to the innings with the openers Binod Bhandari and Aasif Sheikh building up a partnership of 50 runs for the first wicket. Captain Bhandari made 35 from 29 with one six and five fours and Sheikh contributed nine runs off 18.
Indian recruit Puneet Mehra top-scored with 18-ball 38 that included three sixes and two fours whereas Punit Bista and Harishankar Shah made 24 and 19 runs respectively.
Biratnagar Kings' Manjeet Shrestha bagged two wickets while captain Paras Khadka and Subham Kamat added one wicket each.
Kings made a modest start with their openers Dilip Nath and Anil Kumar Sah creating a 29-run partnership for the first wicket. Nath and Sah made 10 and 23 runs respectively.
Hong Kong international Babar Hayat then tried to lay the foundation smashing 10-ball 32 that included four sixes and two fours while Prithu Baskota who came to bat at third number top-scored with 35 off 39 balls with one six and two boundaries.
Captain Khadka managed to score 16 runs facing 15 deliveries which was not enough to save his team from the defeat.
Avinas Karna took three wickets for United whereas player-of-the-match Mehra, Bhuvan Karki and Robeen Chhetri claimed two wickets each. Likewise, Hari Shankar Shah added another for the winning side.
CYC ATTARIYA THRASH RUPANDEHI CHALLENGERS
Earlier in the day's first match, CYC Attariya thrashed Rupandehi Challengers by nine wickets. Challengers who won the toss and chose to bat first were all out for paltry 61 runs in 15.2 overs. In reply, Attariya reached to 65-1 in 7.3 overs.
Only one batsman for Challengers managed to reach double figure while other three failed to add single run for Shakti Gauchan led side. Omanese batsman Sufyan Mehmood was top scorer for the team as he made not-out 20 runs facing 20 deliveries while Bikram Bhushal and skipper Gauchan contributed eight runs each. Openers Pradeep Singh Airee and Sagar Pun were dismissed for duck while Sushan Bhari was Challengers'third player to get dismissed for zero.
Attariya's bowlers displayed fine bowling skills as player-of-the-match Kamal Singh Airee and Shiv Shankar Urao shared seven wickets between them. Airee took 4-15 and Urao claimed 3-7. Likewise, Krishna Karki, Vipin Chandra and Dipendra Singh Airee added one wicket each for victorious side.
Attariya captain Subhash Khakurel chipped in 19 from 13 with four boundaries. Similarly, Prem Tamang and Gaurav Chitkara contributed unbeaten 14 and 30 runs respectively.
Jitendra Mukhiya claimed one wicket for Challengers.
Now on Monday, Attariya will face Dhangadhi Team Chauraha in the day's first match while kathmandu Goldens and will play Challengers in second clash.
