KATHMANDU: Majdur Sahid Smriti Club and Central Development Region won their men’s football matches of the first National Sports Tournament here on Sunday.

At Dasharath Stadium, Majdur defeated PLA Sports Club (blue) 4-1 following a brace from Jeevan Sinkeman. Rubin Shrestha and Rupesh Chhetri added the other. NP Adhikari replied for PLA. Sujan Limbu and Jagjeet Shrestha scored one goal each as Central Region eased past Mid Western Region 2-1. Ritesh Khadka struck for Mid Western.

At the ANFA Complex Satdobato, the ANFA Under 16 team overcame Far Western Region 2-1. Dhruva Yonjan and Arun Dangol scored for U-16 team while Sagar Bom replied for Far West. In the women’s matches, Trishna Khatri scored five goals as Mid Western Region hammered Majdur Sahid Smriti Club 8-0. Alina Budhathoki,k Sita Budhathoki and Laxmi Thapa added one goal each for Mid West.

In men’s volleyball, Far Western Region registered double wins defeating Eastern Region 25-12, 21-25, 19-25, 25-23, 15-13 in their first match and PLA (red) 23-25, 25-17, 25-17, 27-25 in the second. Majdur Sahid Smriti Club saw off PLA (blue) 25-22, 25-27, 25-15, 25-8 and Western Region overpowered PLA (blue) 25-16, 25-23, 25-16.

Mid Western Region beat Eastern Region 25-12, 14-25, 25-14, 25-22, Western Region sneaked past Far West 25-13, 25-13, 25-13 and PLA (red) beat Mid West 25-21, 25-18, 26-24 in the women’s section matches.
