Malinga, Jayasuriya out, SL field

SRI LANKA: Sri Lanka won the toss on a less green and slightly cracked Dambulla surface, and once again decided to bowl as they sought to wrap up the series with two games to spare. There was no sense of complacency though, with two changes made from the side that romped home by six wickets in the previous game.

Out went Sanath Jayasuriya, despite a brisk 30 in that win, and in came Thilina Kandamby, a heavyset young man from whom much is expected in the future. There was also a rest for Lasith Malinga, with the blow-hot-blow-cold Dilhara Fernando getting another go.

Pakistan, who had bowled pretty well in the series while being outbatted, strangely decided to change only the bowling personnel, with Naved-ul-Hasan coming in for Umar Gul. Naved last played for Pakistan nearly 30 months ago at the World Cup in the Caribbean, but Younis Khan and the team management were clearly hoping that his changes of pace and ability to make the ball wobble would be a big factor on another sluggish pitch.
