KATHMANDU, APRIL 23

The Mumbai Indians (MI) are all set to take on the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the 17th encounter of the ongoing IPL 2021 season on Friday.

The match has been scheduled to be held at the Chennai-based MA Chidambaram Stadium --where the pitch has remained on the slower side so far -- from 7: 45 pm.

After winning the toss, Punjab Kings have elected to bowl first.

MI Playing XI: Rohit Sharma (c), Quinton de Kock (w), Surya Kumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Keiron Pollard, Jayant Yadav, Rahul Chahar, Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult

PBKS Playing XI: KL Rahul (w/c), Mayank Agarwal, Chris Gayle, Nicholas Pooran, Deepak Hooda, Moises Henriques, Shahrukh Khan, Fabian Allen, Mohammad Shami, Ravi Bishnoi, Arshdeep Singh

The KL Rahul-led PBKS, who is currently 6th in the race for the 'orange cap' after having smashed 161 runs in four matches, will look to get back to winning ways as the team has lost three consecutive encounters following a win in their first match up. Meanwhile, KL Rahul too will look to silence the critics questioning his captaincy.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) after having won all of their four matches securing 8 points remain table toppers in the points table while for the defending champions Mumbai Indians have had a bitter-sweet journey in this year's IPL after having won and lost two each of their four games accumulating four points.
