Military Wing of EoI clinch trophy

Kathmandu, August 5:

Military Wing of the Embassy of India (EoI) defeated Hyatt Regency 5-3 in the final of the first Independence Day Cup Football Tournament here today.

Maj Sanjay Kanout and Mani Pandit scored two goals each while Nawaraj scored the other for the winners. Ritesh Giri scored a brace and Ashish Thapa netted the other for Hyatt. Manojit Ghosh and Rajesh Chauhan of the EoI’s Security Wing were declared the highest scorer and best goalkeeper.

Other winners included Stephen Nyanti of British Embassy (best veteran), Chamlin Hangshing of EoI’s Chancery Team (best upcoming player), Santosh Shrestha (best defender), Dinesh Khadka of Hyatt (best goal scorer) and Buddha Air (fair play).

The EoI’s Security Wing finished third beating EoI’s Chancery Team ‘A’ 11-2 on Saturday. Indian Ambassador to Nepal Shiv Shankar Mukherjee

gave away prizes to the winners of the 14-team tournament, which was organised by the EoI to mark the Independence Day of India.
