MMC struggle; MPC win

Mahendra Police Club thumped Machhindra Club 5-0, and Manang Marsyangdi Club struggled to beat Mahabir Club 4-2 in the day’s matches at the Martyrs’ Memorial San Miguel ‘A’ Division

League Football Tournament. Mahabir went ahead in the 238th minute through Amar Pun when the striker beat MMC goalkeeper Sachin Shrestha following a pass from Som Lama.

Basanta Thapa scored an equaliser in the 50th minute when Mahabir defenders failed to clear the ball. Thapa put MMC ahead with a left-foot shot from the edge of the D-box line. Tashi Tsering made it 3-1 with a header in the 71st.

Som Lama reduced the margin to 3-2 in the 72nd minute. Nabin Neupane sealed the victory in the 89th when he converted a spot kick, which MMC earned after Roshan Budhathoki brought down Basanta Thapa inside the D-Box. Earlier, Jumanu Rai put the MPC ahead in the eighth minute on a pass from Ramesh Budhathoki, who doubled the tally in the 24th, capitalising on Machhindra goalkeeper Binod Dangol’s blunder. Rai made it 3-0 in the 50th minute, while substitute Arjun Rizal found the net in the 77th minute, while Budhathoki completed the rout in the 81st.
