MMC, Three Star Club play 2-2 draw

Surendra Tamang scored one and set up another as Three Star Club (TSC) came form two-goal down for a 2-2 draw with defending champions Manang Marsyangdi Club (MMC) in the third round match of the Super Six League of the Martyr’s Memorial Everest A Division football tournament today. Leaders Three Star are now four points clear of Mahendra Police Club (33), who are in action on Thu-rsday against Tribhuvan Army Club. In an exiciting match, MMC scored two goals in two minutes, but could not stop Three Star Club, the only unbeaten team, from snatching an important one point.
Basanta Thapa gave MMC a lead in 35 minute on Basanta Gauchan’s rebound. Thapa’s powerful shot from just outside the the penalty area hit the net directly without giving any chance to TSC custodian Upendra Man Singh. A spectacular curling shot from Khum Gurung extended MMC lead just after a minute. Gurung scored briliantly from about 30 yards on Basanta Thapa’s cross. Surendra Tamang reduced the margin in the 60th minute when he netted the ball fro almost zero angle on Santosh Sahukhala’s pass. The goal was Tamang’s 16th goal in the league. TSC defender Janak Singh levelled the score in the 86 minute when he headed in the ball following Surendra Tamang’s corner.
