PANCHTHAR: Morang-XI defeated Tribhuvan Army Club 4-2 in penalty shootout and entered the semi-finals of the ninth Ruslan Falgunanda Gold Cup Football Tournament here at the Phidim High School grounds on Wednesday.

The battle went to spotkick battle after both the teams were tied on 1-1 in the regulation period. Morang’s Surendra Khawas, Buddhiman Rai, Sushil Rai and Mikchhen Tamang converted their shots from the spot.

TAC’s Erik Bista and Rajib Gurung scored goals, while Raju Ale and Sesehang Limbu failed to convert their shots.

Earlier, Morang took the lead in the 35th minute through Santosh Neupane’s goal, while Ashish Shakya levelled the scores in the 57th minute.

On Thursday, Agni Rupandehi-XI will take on Sunari-XI in first semi-final match.
