My nomination is recognition of Nepali cricket: Das
KATHMANDU: The most active cricketer in Nepal, Binod Das has been leading the national team since 2004. With more than 60 international wickets in his tack, the right arm swing bowler has glorified Nepali cricket despite country’s meager international participation.
Das, one of the seven nominees in the Pulsar Popular Player of the Year, believes his nomination is a recognition to Nepali cricket. “This is the result of our hard toiling in the pitch. To be enlisted as one of the contenders in the most popular player is certain recognition to Nepali cricket,” Das says.
Other nominees in the category are Rakesh Shrestha (football), Karishma Karki (swimming), Manish Hamal (chess), Bikash Malla (football), Pramila Rijal (athletics) and Manju Gurung (volleyball). THT Live 2722 is the voting partner of NSJF in the campaign.
Das led the Nepali team to the third place at the World Cricket League Division 5 held in Jersey last year. The talented cricketer from Kalaiya, who has been playing as a member of national team for more than 10 years, also navigated Nepal into the semi-finals of ACC Elite Cup Cricket that was held in Malaysia last year.
With two major events ahead, Das is working hard to make his presence worth in the national cricket team.
“We are looking forward to give a good performance at the ACC Twenty20 Cricket Tournament to be held this November in Dubai and the ICC World Cricket League Division 5 in Kathmandu next year,” says hopeful Das.
After playing cricket for more than a decade, the national skipper is hoping Nepali cricket to get revitalised with an equal enthusiasm from both the people and the government.
