Shrestha defeats Magar, bags title

Kathmandu, August 3

Nepal Police Club’s Nabita Shrestha won the women’s singles title of the ninth Purna Man Bajracharya Memorial National Open Table Tennis Tournament here at the Lainchaur covered hall today.

Five-time national champion Shrestha saw off Sonu Thapa Magar of CCRC 11-9, 11-4, 11-4, 13-11 in the final match. Tribhuvan Army Club’s Rabina Maharjan and Diksha Tamang were joint third.

In men’s singles category, NPC’s Shyantu Shrestha defeated Chandan Shahi of Nepal APF Club 11-5, 11-6, 12-10, 11-5; Deep Saun saw off TAC’s Prajjwal Shrestha 11-4, 13-11, 11-7, 13-11; Purushottam Bajracharya of APF outplayed TAC’s Tendi Sherpa 11-7, 11-2, 7-11, 11-9, 9-11, 11-5 and advanced to the semi-finals.

Adarsha Vidya Mandir beat Proxima 3-0 and won the boys’ team event gold medal in school category. Mount Valley and Pushpa Sadan were joint third.
