Kathmandu, February 23:

Ramesh Nagarkoti carded a four-under 68 on the third day for one-stroke lead at the Himalayan Bank Open Golf Championship, which has been organised by Himalayan Bank Ltd here at Gokarna Forest Golf Resort, today.

Nagarkoti’s total tally of two-under 214 was one-shot better than overnight leader Deepak Acharya, who carded two-under for one-over 215 going into the final day.

Deepak Thapa Magar was at third spot with 216, while first-day leader Sabin Sapkota, who continued his disastrous round carding seven-over was joint fourth with Gokarna Pro Pashupati Sharma at nine-over 225.

In amateur’s section, Ravi Khadka carded a par-72 to take a two-stroke lead over overnight leader Tashi Tsering, who had a round of six-over 78 on the third day for a total of 223. The two amateur golfers are ahead of nine professionals. Surya P Sharma was tied with pro Deepak Neupane at 227.

Nagarkoti’s one-under 35 in the front nine was supported with a lone birdie. In the back nine he birdied the 10th, 16th and 18th holes, had an eagle in the 12th, but two bogeys in the 13th and 15th saw him finishing at three-under 33.

Acharya had a three-under 33 in the front nine courtesy birdies in the third, seventh and ninth holes. In the back nine, Acharya started with a bogey, had a birdie in the 12th, but another bogey in the 15th hole saw him finishing at one-over 37.
