Naikap Gold Cup from Oct 15, 32 teams to vie for the trophy

Naikap Gold Cup Organising Committee is all set to hold the Naikap Gold Cup Football Tournament from October 15-30.
A total of 32 teams will compete in the tournament that offers Rs 200,000 and Rs 100,000 for the winners and the runners-up along with trophies, informed the organisers at a press meet here today. The best player and highest goal scorer will get Rs 10,000 each. The registration fee for the tournament is Rs 10,000.
Organising committee member Rabi Budhathoki informed that the competition will be played in knock-out format. “This is an open tournament and three foreign players are allowed in each team,” Budhathoki added.
The hosts informed that the event will cost approximately Rs 1.5 million. Organising Committee Coordinator Ram Hari Basnet, who is also the convenor of Naikap Football Ground Construction Committee, said that the tournament aims at constructing a national-standard grounds in Naikap. “We hope the event will put enough pressure on government to construct the ground,” he added.
“We have enough space to construct a grounds at the Naikap Ward No 25 of Chandragiri Municipality and we need government’s permission and support for the construction,” said Basnet.
