National league resumes tomorrow
KATHMANDU: The Martyrs Memorial A Division football league is all set to resume tomorrow, All Nepal Football Federation, said today.
The tournament that kicked off on September 29 was halted as many national players playing their club football were obliged to national duty in Bangabandu Gold Cup in Bangladesh.
According to Sanjib Mishra, A Division League Director, the league will start tomorrow but will be postponed again for a month from October 13 for upcoming Dashain, Tihar and Chhat festivals.
Machhindra Club will lock horns with Chyasal Youth Club tomorrow at the ANFA Complex, Satdobato, ANFA said.
The winner of the tournament will walk home with Rs 5 million while the first and second runners up will bag the purse of Rs 3.5 million and Rs 2.5 million respectively.
Likewise, the champions will qualify to represent Nepal in the AFC Asian Cup football tournament, according to Mishra.
The A division league is being held after a gap of four years.
Meanwhile, ANFA has decided to award Rs 50,000 each to the members of Nepal's U-18 Women's Football team for securing runner-up spot in the SAFF U-18 Women's Championship in Bhutan.
According to ANFA Spokesperson Kiran Rai, Manang Marsyangdi Club and Armed Police Force (APF) football team have been sanctioned to participate in the Governor Gold Cup in Sikkim state of India.
