Army, APF win
KATHMANDU: Departmental teams Nepali Army and Armed Police Force registered wins on the opening day of the fourth Gangabu Deep Jyoti Cup Men’s Volleyball Tournament, organised by Dhorpatan Sports Training Centre, here on Sunday. Nepali Army defeated G4 Sports Club 25-16, 25-19, 22-25, 25-18 and APF eased past Darshan Transport of Pokhara in straight sets 25-15, 25-14, 25-20. In another match, Deep Jyoti laboured to a 25-23, 25-17, 16-25, 29-27 win over Jawalakhel Volleyball Training Centre. Top three teams will earn Rs 50,000, Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000 respectively. Best player will also win Rs 5,000 in the six-team tournament.
BST, Reliance in semis
KATHMANDU: Hosts BST College and Reliance College made it to the semi-finals of the first BST Cup Inter-college Boys Basketball Tournament here on Sunday. BST recorded a convincing 42-26 win over Canvas riding on 17 points from Santosh. Reliance saw off Kathmandu Academy 44-33 with Rohit Lama contributing a match-winning 20 points. Joining them in the last four were St Lawrence and Lincoln College. Bhupendra netted 12 points as St Lawrence dispatched Sirius 42-34 and Lincoln overcame Siddhartha Vanasthali 54-48 with Arjun Yonjon chipping in 12 points for the winners. BST will meet Reliance and St Lawrence will face Lincoln in the semi-finals.
