World record attempts

KATHMANDU: Dipak Sharma Bajagai made attempts to set world records here at the National Sports Council (NSC) covered hall on Tuesday. Bajagain bounced a basketball for 340 times in 54 seconds which he claims to be a new world record. Likewise, he also held table tennis bat and ball in motion for 4 hours, 39 minutes, 52 seconds. Bajagain also ate 34 cloves of garlic in 1 minute to break the previous best of 22 cloves in a minute. All three records is currently under the name of American Arista Forman. Forman had set the record of bouncing basketball 339 times in a minute, holding table tennis bat and ball in motion for three hours and eating the 22 cloves of garlic. Bajagain will send the video footage of his attempts to be recognised by the Guiness Book of World Records in London.

New Star in semis

BHAKTAPUR: New Star School entered the semi-finals of the fourth FECA Cup Inter-school Football Tournament here on Tuesday. In the first quarter-final match, New Star defeated Pritima 6-2 with Suman Dulal completing a hat-trick. Manoj Bohora, Sagar Chapagain and Umeed Khadka added one goal apiece. Man of the match Yadav Dahal scored a brace for Pritimia. Manohara registered a hard fought 1-0 win in another quarter-final match. Man of the match Sundar Ghimire scored the decider.
