Bodybuilders selected
KATHMANDU: The Nepal Bodybuilding and Fitness Association (NBBFA) on Friday selected 15 bodybuilders for the final selection of the seventh South Asian Bodybuilding and Fitness Championships slated for June 4-7 in Kathmandu. Dayaram Diwakar, Sachit Pradhan, Devendra Bajracharya, Ram Hari Khadka, Harka Raj Limbu, Biru Maharjan, Gyan Narayan Maharjan, Shyam Shrestha, Mukti Raj Rai, Bimal Shrestha, Kiran Shrestha, Sunanda Raj Shakya, Dil Kumar Gurung, Milan Mukti Bikram Sijapati and Arjun Barnabal were picked up after a selection tournament. The NBBFA will name the participants after a final selection tournament in April.
Foundation stone laid
DHANGADI: Minister for Youth and Sports Ganesh Nepali on Friday laid the foundation stone of the Far Western Regional Stadium in Dhangadi. The National Sports Council will begin the preliminary work on the stadium soon with the government’s grant of Rs 10 million. The expected budget of the project is Rs 30 million, said the NSC. Meanwhile, representatives of the various quarters of the society submitted a memorandum to Minister Nepali for hosting the sixth National Games in Dhangadi.
Tug-of-War tourney
KATHMANDU: The Nepal National Tug of War Association are organising the first National Open Tug of War Tournament on Saturday. In all, 16 teams from Nepal APF, banks, clubs and casinos will compete in the one-day event to be held at the local Tundikhel grounds, said the organisers on Friday. The top three winners will receive Rs20,000, Rs15,000, Rs10,000 respectively.
