National Youth Jamboree this week

Kathmandu, September 7

Madhyapur Youth Association (MYA) is organising the National Youth Jamboree under the auspices of Mercy Corps from September 10-11.

President of MYA Upendra Man Singh said the main objective of the event — being organised under its Generation Amazing programme — is to enable youth through football. “The Jamboree will produce youth leaders and they will ultimately help in the development of football,” said Singh, the former national team goalkeeper and skipper.

“We will provide the youth with knowledge about football pitches and ways to maintain them apart from teaching them about football,” he added. “As the program coincides with National Children Day, we will organise a rally before the opening of the Jamboree.”

Kaski, Makawanpur, Kailali and Bhaktapur districts will participate in the two-day event. The first day will feature football festival, photo exhibition, quiz contest, and street drama related to football.

The second day will have a video exhibition, speech contest, football tournament and football skills show. A football team will have six male and five female players. The organisers will also prepare a documentary including the events of the Jamboree.
