Naxal enter final
KATHMANDU: Allround performance from Amol Sharma steered Naxal Challengers to the final of the first Inter-Marwari Twenty20 Cricket Tournament with a seven-wicket win over Rising Nepal here on Thursday.
Electing to bat first, Rising Nepal were restriced for 105 in 17.5 overs before Naxal overcame the total losing three wickets. Amit Verma scored a fluent 44 with four boundaries and two sixes in his 35-ball knock for Rising Nepal. Amit Goenka contributed 33-ball 22 and Pradeep Garg chipped in 10 from 12 deliveries. Man of the match, Amol and Vishal Khetan picked up three wickets apiece while Sushil Nahata grabbed two and Vivek Khetan took one wicket for Naxal.
In reply, Harsh Kandoi struck unbeaten 33 to see Naxal home. Harsh struck sixes in his 26-ball innings. Amol also scored 30 off 36 with five hits to the fence. Sushil Nahata made 15 and Gaurav Jain not out 14 off nine balls. Bikash Singh Rathod and Vishad Dugar claimed one wicket each for Rising Nepal.
Meanwhile, Bishal Bazar Blaster qualified for the semi-finals as Group ‘A’ runners up after defeating City Centre Challengers by 38 runs today. Bishal Bazar finished second behind already Naxal and will play for a place in final against the Group ‘B’ winners Kalimati Challengers on Friday.
Bishal Bazar accumulated a huge 143-3 in the 16-over aside match. City Centre could only manage 105 in 14.5 overs. Hitesh Dalmiya top scored for Bishal Bazar with a fiery 36 off 23 balls which included five fours. Sunil Gaggar and Yash Somani also made 30 runs each. Gaggar, who remained unbeaten, hit two fours and a six in an explosive 19-ball knock while Somani also struck two boundaries and a six in his 25-ball innings. Abhishek Bathwal also chipped in 12-ball 18 with three hits to the fence. Sanjau Bathwal, Sandeep Gadia and Bimal Singhaniya bagged one wicket each for City Centre.
Ashish Agrawal top scored for City Centre with 30-bal 33 while Pradeep Bothara made 12 and Vipin Khetan 10 in reply as their run chase was cut short in the 15th over. Man of the match Navin Jain took 4-23 off his four overs for Bishal Bazar. Anupam Sharma and Ronit Sharma also earned two wicket apiece for Bishal Bazar.
